PREPARATIONS are being made at the Sabah state assembly for former chief minister Musa Aman to take his oath as the Sibuga assemblyman today.

Speaker Syed Abas Syed Ali confirmed the preparations with The Malaysian Insight and said Musa, who is wanted for criminal intimidation, is supposed to turn up at the assembly around 2.30pm today.

However, the speaker said he was unsure if Musa would actually go through the swearing-in, as it was still unclear if he will arrive in Kota Kinabalu today.

“We are preparing as if he will be there and as if the ceremony will continue,” Syed Abas said.

He was informed through a third party that Musa would show up.

“We are not certain whether he will come but this is what has been promised, if he doesn’t come, we will do it other time.”

Musa has until September 11 to take his oath or the assembly will be forced to declare the Sg Sibuga seat vacant to make way for a by-election.

Musa, through his lawyers, has been claiming ill health and medical treatment as the reason for not returning to Sabah after being sought by police for allegedly intimidating the Yang di-Pertua Negeri over his hasty swearing-in as chief minister after the May 9 general election.

Juhar Mahirudin alleged that Musa threatened him.

Musa is also sought by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission for allegedly bribing assemblymen to ensure a win for Barisan Nasional in Sabah during the elections.

It is learnt Musa checked into Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care at Subang Jaya at 6.45pm on Monday, shortly after arriving from Singapore.

His room, a VVIP suite, is under guard by hospital security.

Deputy Home Minister Azis Jamman said Musa will be subject to the standard police treatment with regard to his arrest and detention. As he has a health complaint, the police SOP will allow a public doctor to examine and determine whether he should be warded or remain in custody. – August 24, 2018.
