AFTER 20 years, the Reformasi movement should not be tarnished by PKR members fighting for positions, said Dr Afif Bahardin.

The Youth chief aspirant said there were members contesting in the party polls who were marring PKR’s image by taking jabs at each other.

“There are those who claim they are the ‘real’ Reformasi, but are we not all part of this? Reformasi comes from the people.

“This is not a platform on which to fight it out, complain and rant. Do not soil the Reformasi movement for the sake of posts,” he said in his speech at the opening of the Selangor PKR general assembly.

He was referring to the team led by vice-president Rafizi Ramli, who has claimed his camp be the “real” Reformasi movement that aims to continue the party’s struggle.

Afif said members should vote for experienced leaders like deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali, and not those yet to prove themselves.

“When you choose leaders, choose those who are ‘tested’. To test a man’s character, give him power.

“The Selangor leadership, led by Azmin and Amirudin… they are the ‘tested’ leaders of Reformasi,” he said referring to Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari, who succeeded Azmin in the post.

Meanwhile, Wanita chief candidate Haniza Talha said there were those within the party trying to bring down the Selangor government.

“What kind of members are you if you are trying to bring down your own party-led state government?”

The Lembah Jaya assemblyman urged the PKR disciplinary bureau to take action against such individuals.

“I ask that the disciplinary bureau take action against these party members.”

The hottest battle in the PKR elections is for the No. 2 post, with Rafizi gunning to replace Azmin.

The presidency was won uncontested by Anwar Ibrahim last month.

The Rafizi-Azmin fight is mirrored in contests for other top posts.

Haniza will face off with Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Fuziah Salleh for the Wanita top post, with her running mate, Sementa rep Daroyah Alwi, vying for the wing’s No. 2 post.

Fuziah’s running mate is Batu Tiga assemblyman Rodziah Ismail. – September 2, 2018.

  • What has PKR actually reformed and tangible in establishing it ????????. Till today it is always Anwar and Anwar and Anwar in his reforms and the foot soldiers in their reformasi cries but still short in reforming the country. What reforms??? Only cries and whinning to free Anwar from the jail is the first priority and nothing else matters . Oh yea!! we have not forgotten all the nice speeches in the ceramah of reforms but matter of factly it is in the guise to ensure Anwar is the utmost priority to be freed. Nothing wrong with that but senseless usage of reformasi shouting here and there and even in front of the court house but still do not see reforms being implemented and till today what reforms are actuall in concrete of black white . Do not talk about the 100 days items as that do not actaully constitute the real reforms for it is just promises and gesture to ensure credibility. Do not take the GE14 victory and labled it as a reformasi movement toppling the kleptocratic government. Nothing of that sort. It is just a show of power in the Rakyat on their disdain and anti sentiments to UmnoBN Government for their miseries and grievances . The reformasi cries did not hype up the Rakyat to make a change !!!!!! PKR. --- stop your kidding and false inflation of ego in your reformasi. Get the facts right. If DAP do not push hard and expose the 1MDB and all the other scandals of Najib and if Mahatir do not surface up to support at the critical time and if Amanah do not split off from PAS, all the reformasi cries will not change the government and Anwar will still rot in jail or maybe extended by other charges to remain in the slammer for good. FED UP with PKR with all their useless bickering and their self serving causes. This party should be boycotted in support as they have lost their bearings and now a misfit in the society.!!!!!!!
