THE Orang Asli community in Gua Musang has rebuilt one of three blockades demolished by the Kelantan Forestry Department and state Land and Mines Department on Monday.

Jaringan Kampung Orang Asli Kelantan chairman Mustafa Along said the community had rebuilt the blockade in Kg Cawas, Pos Bihai, and the two others in Kg Depak, Pos Tohoi, and Kg Kuala Wok, Pos Pasik, would be rebuilt soon.

“The Orang Asli community will continue to monitor the blockade in Kg Cawas, as well as the other two to be rebuilt soon, to prevent illegal logging and agriculture activities in our villages,” he told reporters in Kg Cawas today.

He said the blockades would continue for as long as the issue of customary land claims was not resolved by the state government.

On Monday, 200 state government personnel, supervised by 234 General Operations Force and police personnel, tore down the three blockades. – Bernama, August 31, 2018.
