2,115 housewives have signed up for the Caruman Sukarela Insentif Suri (i-Suri) which enables them to enjoy Employees Provident Fund (EPF) incentives.

The EPF, when asked on the number of i-Suri registrations said the number was as at 2pm last Friday.

“We have the statistic as of 2pm last Friday.

“2,115 have successfully registered for i-Suri,” the EPF told The Malaysian Insight.

I-Suri registrations opened on August 15.

The scheme allows housewives to save a minimum of RM5 monthly into their EPF account and the government will match with a monthly contribution of RM40.

359,065 Malaysians under e-Kasih are eligible for the first phase of I-Suri, for which Putrajaya has allocated RM20 million until the end of 2018.

Harian Metro had reported earlier that many housewives were caught by surprise when they found out they were ineligible for scheme.

Mahmud Shauqi Ahmad, Perak’s EPF Head was quoted as saying that the ineligible housewives were not 60 years and below, Malaysians and registered with eKasih.

eKasih is a government incentive that requires registrants to have a household income of less than RM1,500.

Meanwhile the EPF added that those who do not meet the i-Suri requirements may sign up for i-Saraan.

“Those who do not meet the criteria can also register for i-Saraan (previously SP1M) so we also saw 3,095 housewives registered for the scheme since i-Suri was launched,” it said. – August 21, 2018.
