Registration opens for EPF's i-Suri scheme

THE Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has announced that registration for Caruman Sukarela Insentif Suri (i-Suri) opens today, and those eligible may participate in i-Suri by registering as EPF members at any of its 67 branches nationwide.

Housewives, widows and single mothers whose profiles are listed in the National Database on Poverty (eKasih) can register for i-Suri and contribute a minimum of RM5 monthly to be eligible for a government incentive of RM40 a month, which will be deposited into their EPF accounts.

“The registration drive for i-Suri follows the launch of the Suri Housewives Incentive by Deputy Prime Minister and Women, Family and Community Development Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail last week at the EPF International Social Security Conference 2018,” said EPF deputy CEO (operations) Mohd Naim Daruwish.

Those who sign up for i-Suri will be able to enjoy the same benefits as EPF members, such as annual dividends on their retirement savings; withdrawal option at age 50, 55 or 60; incapacitation benefit; and, death benefit, in addition to the RM40 incentive.

Statistics by eKasih show that there are 221,890 housewives, 98,536 widows and 28,116 divorcees from the hardcore poor segment who are eligible for the government incentive.
