FORMER Sabah chief minister Musa Aman has ignored medical advice in London and will return home, said his political secretary, Mohd Joh Wid.
Musa was undergoing treatment at Clementine Churchill hospital and will seek follow-up treatment at Mount Elizabeth hospital in Singapore, Joh said.
“Tempat jatuh lagikan dikenang, inikan pula tempat bermain. This is the best metaphor of Musa’s return to Malaysia after having treatment in London.
“But he has to refer to the hospital in Singapore that has his medical records for the past 30 years for a follow-up treatment.
“In this (London) hospital, I just found out that he had several heart surgeries and needs to have follow-up treatments to ensure his health is stable.
“I am saying this to state that he is not running away but he actually needs treatment,” Joh said in a Facebook post.
The post did not say when Musa would be discharged nor when he would fly to Singapore.
Joh said Musa did not reveal his health condition to his officers when he was chief minister.
“He didn’t want to be seen as a weak leader. If it were to be made public, it would affect Malaysians’ perception of him and his party leadership.”
He said Musa is a diligent person when it comes to doing his job and is particular when it comes to managing finances.
“He is willing to sacrifice his own health for Sabah. Visiting him at the hospital in London and escorting him back is just a little sacrifice from me. Together, we pray that Musa will recover.”
Musa has not been seen in the country since May 14 after Yang di-Pertua Negeri Juhar Mahiruddin filed a criminal intimidation complaint against the then chief minister shortly after the 14th general election.
Musa has denied fleeing the country over the events on May 10 when he was sworn in as chief minister. – August 21, 2018.
