Musa Aman will come home, but not today

BUKIT Aman police have refuted reports that former Sabah chief minister Musa Aman will be returning home today, but the former leader has been advised him to do so as soon as possible.

“It is not confirmed that he will come back today. I am not sure when but I believe he will return soon,” Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun told The Malaysian Insight.

“If I were to say he will come back today and he doesn’t, you will call me a liar. We have sent our men to see him and they have made contact with him but he is not coming home today.

Fuzi declined to reveal Musa’s whereabouts, but said he hoped Musa would return voluntarily.

“Location is not specific. Let’s hope he will come back on his own. There is no need to send the police to escort him home,” Fuzi said.

Musa, who has not been seen since May 14, is sought by the police to assist in investigations into a criminal intimidation complaint filed by Yang di-Pertua Negeri Juhar Mahiruddin.

Musa, who has admitted to being in Britain, has denied fleeing the country over events on the night of May 10 when he was sworn in as chief minister.

“I have been informed of various statements and reports in recent days that I have left Malaysia illegally or that I have illegally entered the United Kingdom.

“The inference is that I have become a fugitive and am making myself deliberately unavailable to the authorities with regard to investigations.

“Nothing could be further from the truth. I believe that some of these reports have regrettably been made with the intention of seeking to embarrass or discredit me for political reasons,” he said via a statement from his press officer, Awang Faisyal.

There was a message on the internet yesterday claiming the Sungai Sibuga assemblyman would land in Singapore before entering Malaysia via the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang or the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) today.

“Musa Aman, who was in hiding on the excuse of getting medical treatment, will be brought back to Malaysia tomorrow (Monday).

“The media will be updated from time to time on the status. The time (of arrival) and the airport  will be revealed following further information,” a message on social media platforms stated.

Musa must swear in as assemblyman within three months of the first state assembly sitting, which took place on June 11. – August 20, 2018.
