A Rapid KL bus injured at least four people when it rammed into several vehicles while speeding and swerving dangerously on a stretch of road in Jalan Ampang, tonight.

NST Online reports that the bus was heading towards the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2).

City police Traffic Enforcement Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner Zulkefly Yahya told the news portal that eight vehicles were damaged in the 8pm incident.

A video of the incident has gone viral. In the video, the commuter bus is seen racing down a busy stretch of road with both signal lights flashing, It crashes into several cars as it tries to squeeze past them and in one scene, it tailgates and then knocks aside a car that is in its way. The video appears to have been shot by pursuers behind the bus. Angry shouts and curses are heard as slow, heavy traffic fails to stop the bus driver.

It is not known if there were passengers on the bus at the time.

Zulkefly said the bus came to a halt at the Jalan Ampang-MRR2 junction.

He said the victims were in the midst of making police reports.

Police have yet to arrest the bus driver, who was being treated at the Ampang Hospital.

“My officers are still investigating, we have yet to make decision on this,” he said.  – August 16, 2018.

  • URGENT indepth probe into both buses & drivers required to improve their service to the public. I relate some of my experiences with Rapid KL buses:

    • Continued from above (1) Rapid KL drivers and staff manning desks at several stations (at least 3) in the Pasar Seni Hub should be relocated to airconditioned cabins for health reasons (to escape breathing carbon monoxide in the air). (2) Bus schedules to be improved/maintained (3) Buses under-maintained, or not cleaned thoroughly. Cockroaches emerge from under the seats, so regular fumigation necessary (4) Lady commuters especially stand near driver to engage them with long conversations & distract attention from driving safely (5) Windows/doors are not closed, or do not close properly, to affect airconditioning & introduce pollution (6) More digital bus/time screens required (e.g. in suburbs & outside the TESCO outlet at Pusat Bandar Puchong) (7) etc..

  • I suspect the driver could have done something very wrong before this incident, that's why he was pursued by the bikers.
