944 dengue cases recorded in 3 KL constituencies

A TOTAL of 944 dengue cases, including one death, were reported in the Batu, Kepong and Segambut parliamentary constituencies from January to August 4.

Kepong district health officer Dr Fuad Hashim said between 60 and 70 cases were reported a week, over the last few weeks.

“Usually, these three constituencies record an average of between 30 and 40 cases a week, but over the last few weeks, there has been an increase.

“There are many contributing factors, including a dirty environment, high population density and rapid urbanisation,” he told reporters after a Bersih Aedes gotong-royong at the Seri Perak housing area in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur, today.

Some 100 residents participated in the programme, which was officiated by Batu lawmaker P. Prabakaran. – Bernama, August 12, 2018.
