27 Umno vans seized in Johor police swoop

POLICE today seized the entire fleet of Johor Umno’s Skuad Sayang vans in connection with the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) case under investigation.

A highly placed source in federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman said Johor Wanita Umno’s 27 vans had been seized and were stored at Johor police headquarters.

The source told The Malaysian Insight the vans were seized under the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Ac 2001.

“I can confirm that we have seized the vans. We acted on a court order yesterday,” the source said.

The source said the vans would be sent to Kuala Lumpur.

“We will keep it there today. We will bring the vans to KL in one or two days time.”

“From here we will later we probe the matter.” 

Johor Umno liaison chief Hasni Mohammad said in a news report today that the party had received a confiscation notice for the vans.

“We (Johor Umno) were told to surrender the Skuad Sayang vans to the police to facilitate investigations under Amla 2001.” 

“We were given the confiscation notice yesterday and have so far cooperated with the authorities where most of the vans have been collected to be surrendered,” he told the Malay Mail .

He said the vans were used by Johor Wanita Umno members for their community programmes.

Hasni, who is also the state opposition leader, said Johor Umno would fully cooperate with the authorities in the investigation. – August 3, 2018.
