THE Registrar of Societies (RoS) is insisting that DAP must hold fresh elections for its central executive committee (CEC).

RoS director-general Mohammad Razin Abdullah said the department will only meet with DAP if there’s an official application, according to a Sinah Harian report today.

“RoS will not budge from its decision that DAP must hold fresh elections for its CEC. If DAP wants to clarify the matter with the RoS, it must request a meeting in writing,” said Mohammad Razin.

DAP said yesterday that there was no reason for the RoS to call for party elections, adding it will seek an urgent meeting with the authorities.

On July 7, Mohammad Razin issued a press statement saying the registrar did not recognise DAP’s CEC because the 2013 party elections did not comply with the law.

The party was only officially notified of the decision 10 days later, after which DAP said it would meet the RoS to “clear the air”. – July 20, 2017.
