THE bank account of Najib Razak’s 10-month-old grandson was never frozen, Sinar Harian reports the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission as saying.
It’s deputy chief commissioner, Azam Baki, told the Malay daily this after Najib’s daughter, Nooryana Najwa, took to social media to complain that her bank accounts, as well the account of her 10-month-old son, had been frozen.
Nooryana Najwa yesterday said she got a call from the bank that the accounts had been frozen after posting the first tranche of RM500,000 bail for her father.
She said her account was used to pay for her study fees while, her son’s account contained just RM100 from his first duit raya.
“Is the government so vindictive that they want to eliminate our entire family?” she wrote.
“What does my baby’s duit Raya have to do with 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB)?”
Reports says the account of Najib’s son, Norashman, had also been frozen.
Najib yesterday claimed trial to three counts of criminal breach of trust and another charge of abuse of power involving RM42 million linked to SRC International Sdn Bhd, a former subsidiary of 1MDB.
The High Court set a bail amount of RM1 million and allowed him to pay the first RM500,000 yesterday, and the rest by next Monday. – July 5, 2018.
