NAJIB Razak’s stepson, Riza Aziz, left the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission headquarters at 10.29pm after being questioned for nine hours on the 1Malaysia Development Bhd scandal.

The 48-year-old movie producer and co-founder of film production company Red Granite Pictures arrived about 1.30pm, accompanied by a team of lawyers.

He will appear before the commission again at 2pm tomorrow.

Riza was the former prime minister’s second family member to be called in for questioning. Najib’s wife, Rosmah Mansor, had her statement recorded last month.

Najib himself was grilled for 11 hours on May 22 and May 23. He was questioned on his involvement in former 1MDB subsidiary SRC International, as well as the RM2.6 billion found in two personal bank accounts.

Also questioned today were two prominent Umno figures – newly elected president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Johor party leader Shahrir Abdul Samad, who is former Felda chairman.

Shahrir, who allegedly received RM1 million in 1MDB funds, was questioned for six hours.

Yesterday, Zahid was grilled for nine hours on his alleged meeting with a representative of the Saudi royal family, regarding the RM2.6 billion “donation”. – July 3, 2018.
