PAS has dared Putrajaya to declassify the auditor-general’s report on the scandal-hit 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) if the latter is convinced that there is no wrongdoing in the state investment fund.
PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man issued the challenge to the director-general of Special Affairs Division (Jasa) Mohd Puad Zarkashi, who had castigated the party for seeking further investigations into the 1MDB scandal.
“Were the auditor-general’s department able to verify every financial transaction 1MDB made abroad, together with financial statements of foreign banks involved in 1MDB? Was PAC able to question Jho Low before completing the report?” Tuan Ibrahim said in a statement late yesterday.
He also questioned the government and the prime minister’s reluctance to file legal suits against Sarawak Report or The Wall Street Journal over slanders against 1MDB.
“All these questions are the common questions asked by the people,” said Tuan Ibrahim, adding that PAS does not intend to accuse anyone involved as people are innocent until proven guilty.
On Tuesday, Puad told Tuan Ibrahim to work harder to understand the facts and developments surrounding 1MDB and how the government has addressed them.
He said the PAS deputy president was “shallow” for urging the federal government to form a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to probe into 1MDB.
He added that the PAS deputy president should read and understand the attorney-general’s (AG) decision not to prosecute the state investor and reports by the National Audit Department and the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). – July 6, 2017.

We hope Tuan Ibrahim would continue to soldier on in the path of righteousness and truth, despite the understandable obstacles strewn in his way in a party that has been led astray by its leader.
We also hope that, considering coming GE14 may make or break the nation, Tuan Ibrahim would try his utmost to ensure that his party’s significant electoral support can be constructively channelled towards engendering a regime change soon.
