PAS will meet to discuss whether to accept Pakatan Harapan (PH)’s invitation to sit on the newly formed 1MDB action committee.
Deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said he had yet to receive the invitation letter from opposition leader Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
“I haven’t seen the letter.
“The party will discuss and issue a statement after that,” Tuan Ibrahim told The Malaysian Insight.
Earlier today, Dr Wan Azizah called on all opposition parties, including PAS, to set aside their differences to bring those involved in the 1MDB scandal to justice.
Tuan Ibrahim appears to contradict fellow party member Khairuddin Aman Razali, who is reported to have rejected PH’s invitation to work together in the matter of 1MDB.
“PAS has its own way; we are not cooperating with Barisan Nasional and we are not with Pakatan Harapan. We have our way and we will not follow others in the 1MDB issues,” the PAS central committee member was quoted as saying on a news portal.
PH has also announced a nationwide tour to explain to the people issues related to the state investor. The tour will end with a gathering in September. Dr Wan Azizah said the 1MDB action committee would organise the programme. PH component parties, PKR, DAP, Amanah, and Bersatu are coming together on the 1MDB scandal via the committee, which also has the support of Parti Warisan Sabah.
The move comes following the US Department of Justice’s action last week to seize assets worth US $540 million (RM2.3 billion, allegedly bought using money siphoned off the state fund. – June 28, 2017.
