A FORMER special officer to ousted prime minister Najib Razak has been remanded to assist in investigations into the troubled 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
“Former special aide to former prime minister Najib is remanded for seven days to help with investigations into 1MDB,” state media agency Bernama tweeted today.
The man was arrested late yesterday at MACC headquarters where he had gone to have his statement recorded, The Star reports.
Sources said the man was the director of a company which allegedly received money linked to the state investment fund.
Amarhari was in the news last year in an expose by PKR’s Rafizi Ramli that he allegedly received RM2 million from Najib via SRC International.
SRC International is a former subsidiary of 1MDB and also one of the companies through which money from the state investor flowed before being deposited into Najib’s private bank accounts.
Magistrate Shah Wira Abdul Halim granted the application to remand Amhari for seven days until July 1.
Amhari was also reported as a co-owner of the company which developed a mobile app on Najib that was released in 2016. – June 25, 2018.
