Ku Li says he’s ready and willing to debate Zahid, Khairy

UMNO presidential hopeful Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah said he is prepared to debate Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Khairy Jamaluddin – the two other contenders for Umno’s top post – and challenged all candidates in the coming party polls to do likewise.

In an interview with Astro Awani late last night, Tengku Razaleigh was asked if he was willing to debate other Umno presidential hopefuls.

“The answer is, I am ready. I can answer any question that anybody wants to ask me,” he said.

“If I am bold enough to explain, the others should also follow suit and be willing to deliver explanations as well,” said the Gua Musang MP.

On Saturday, Tengku Razeleigh announced his candidacy after keeping party members guessing for weeks.

He will go up against Zahid, Khairy and four other candidates for the party’s top post in the June 30 polls.

Tengku Razeleigh had said that the party, which suffered crushing defeat in the 14th general election, needed a “politically mature” leader to guide it back to relevance, and that he had sufficient experience to lead Barisan Nasional and Umno into becoming a strong opposition force in Parliament.

Less than 24 hours after announcing his intention to contest, Umno Youth chief Khairy, who had earlier said he was running for a vice-president’s post, surprised many by announcing he would also be gunning for the top post. – June 20, 2018.

  • Jangan turun padang, tetapi beri laluan kepada gologan / generasi muda seperti Khairy Jamaluddin, Ku Li! What are you going to achieve by a public debate with KJ or Zahid? Nothing! Know your age and stamina! Quitting is the best option for you - now that your own turf/state UMNO guys have rejected you outright..
