THE Terengganu menteri besar has welcomed the Pakatan Harapan government’s allocation for PAS lawmakers.
“We feel appreciated in Terengganu, as nothing was given to opposition MPs by the previous government,” said Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar after the annual National Finance Council meeting at the Finance Ministry today.
He said Terengganu will study its finances before deciding whether to allocate funds for state opposition assemblymen.
Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has said the government will give RM500,000 to PH lawmakers to run their constituencies, while opposition MPs will get RM100,000.
The sum will be paid out before Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
Under Barisan Nasional, government MPs were given an annual allocation of RM5 million, while opposition lawmakers did not get anything.
Present at the meeting were Dr Mahathir, Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, Sarawak and Sabah Chief Ministers Abang Johari Openg and Mohd Shafie Apdal, the chief executives of Negri Sembilan, Malacca and Perak, as well as Chief Secretary to the Government Ali Hamsa. – June 7, 2018.
