OPPOSITION MPs will only get 20% of what Pakatan Harapan MPs receive for their service centres, said Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
“We will give allocations to them but it will be less,” said Dr Mahathir during a press conference in Putrajaya today.
“We will give RM500,000 to government MPs and RM100,000 to (opposition MPs),” he said.
Previously, Dr Mahathir had said that government MPs would get RM500,000 for their constituencies and RM200,000 for their service centres.
He said the sums would be paid out before the Hari Raya holidays.
When asked to clarify, Dr Mahathir said: “RM500,000 to us and RM100,000 to them.”
MPs are given traditionally given allocations to spend on their constituencies.
Barisan Nasional MPs were allocated RM5 million in 2015, up from RM1 million per annum. Under the BN government, opposition MPs were not given any allocations. – June 6, 2018.
