MALAYSIA Airlines has confirmed that one of its flights experienced engine issues following take-off from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, India earlier today.
In a statement, Malaysia Airlines confirmed that flight MH199 from Hyderabad to Kuala Lumpur on June 20 returned to Hyderabad due to an issue with one of its engines during the climb after take-off.
“The aircraft safely landed at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at 3:21 am local time, and all passengers and crew disembarked safely,” the statement said.
It was earlier reported that flight MH199 was forced into emergency landing in Hyderabad after one of its engines caught fire mid-air.
The Times of India reported that flight MH199, carrying 138 passengers, took off at 12.45am but returned to the Hyderabad airport because of technical reasons.
