EVERY deserving student who had performed well in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2023 examination should have access to quality education and the chance to pursue higher studies, said the Educational, Welfare & Research Foundation Malaysia (EWRF).

EWRF president Muthamil Chelvan Arumugam said exceptional achievements of outstanding Malaysian Indian students in SPM 2023 demonstrate their resilience, dedication and hard work.

He added that their success reflects not only their individual efforts but also the unwavering support from their families, teachers and the community at large.

“As an organisation committed to serving the marginalised, vulnerable and impoverished communities in Malaysia, EWRF recognises the importance of equitable educational opportunities.

“We firmly believe that every deserving student should have access to quality education and the chance to pursue higher studies.

“By providing additional opportunities, we can empower more talented students to excel academically and contribute to the nation’s progress,” said Muthamil.

“In light of this, EWRF urges the government to implement a previous offer to increase matriculation seats for Indian students, and commit at least 2,500 seats for the 2024 intake,” he added. – June 6, 2024.
