NON-MUSLIM houses of worship have until June 30 to apply for government funds to upgrade their premises.

Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching said applications can be made online to the Housing and Local Government Ministry.

“I urge those who need funds to upgrade their houses of worship to submit an online application to the Housing and Local Government Ministry.

“This demonstrates the government’s commitment to support all religions in our country,” she was quoted as saying in New Straits Times today.

She was speaking at a Wesak Day event in Kuala Lumpur. Teo said more than 300 churches and temples received RM50 million in government grants last year for upgrading work.

“The government supports diversity, and therefore we have also allocated funds for non-Islamic houses of worship.” – May 22, 2024.
