THE Ampang magistrate’s court today charged a policeman with raping a student in Ampang, Selangor, on January 9.

Officer Fazrul Razzi Yunus, 31, was also charged with carnal intercourse against the order of nature using an object during a sexual assault, and sexually assaulting a minor. 

The lance corporal pleaded not guilty to all charges of raping the 17-year-old Uzbekistan girl.

The court then set RM20,000 bail for all four charges.

The rape charge provides for a maximum 20-year jail term and caning upon conviction, while the charge of committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature without consent provides for a maximum 20-year jail term and caning upon conviction.

The charge of using an object during sexual assault carries a maximum jail term of up to 30 years and caning upon conviction and the sexual assault of a minor provides for a jail term of up to 20 years and caning on conviction.

It was reported on January 11, that two police officers attached to Selangor were arrested in connection with extorting money and raping a private college student in Bukit Ampang View, Kuala Lumpur.

Separately at the same court, Fazrul and another officer Adib Aikal Shahrul Nizam, 24, pleaded not guilty to one count of extorting the girl’s boyfriend, also aged 17, into paying the duo RM500.

They were accused of threatening the teenage boy with spreading a video of the underage couple kissing if he did not pay the two officers.

Both were alleged to have committed the offence around 10.09pm on the same night of the purported sexual assault.

If found guilty under section 384 of the Penal Code, they could face imprisonment for up to 10 years, fined, caning, or a combination of these penalties.

Magistrate Amalina Basirah Md Top granted both individuals bail, allowing each to be released on RM4,000 bail with one surety.– January 17, 2024.
