SELANGOR police chief Hussein Omar Khan has confirmed that two policemen, arrested for their suspected involvement in a robbery and rape case concerning a private college student and her male friend in Bukit Ampang View on Tuesday, have been suspended from duty. The suspension will remain in effect until the investigations are completed.

“Yes, both of them have been suspended from duty until the criminal and disciplinary investigations are completed,” he told Bernama today.

He added that the police will also gather statements from all individuals involved, including the superiors of the two policemen.

In the incident at 10:09pm, the two policemen, aged in their 20s and 30s, are suspected to have taken the victim and her friend to separate locations, where one of the suspects allegedly raped the victim.

The two policemen have been remanded for seven days, starting Wednesday, under section 376 of the Penal Code and sections 395/397 of the Penal Code. – Bernama, January 12, 2024.
