BEFORE the International Court of Justice (ICJ), lawyers representing South Africa concluded their three hours of detailed descriptions of what the country said was a compelling case of genocide that Israel is committing in Gaza.

South Africa asked the ICJ to quickly decide on urgent provisional measures to order Israel to stop its actions in Gaza.

The descriptions presented the most detailed and most gruesome of genocides in recent history.

But I could sum up South Africa’s three-hour oral presentation in three words.

Nothing justifies genocide. – January 12, 2024.
