POLICE have confirmed a sock found in a stream where the body of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin was discovered did not belong to the murdered six-year-old.

Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said laboratory tests confirmed the matter, Sinar Harian reported.

Yesterday, Hussein told The Malaysian Insight there were no new leads in the probe into the autistic boy’s death, but police were looking for fresh evidence at the crime scene.

On Friday, a forensic team from Bukit Aman and Selangor headquarters conducted a reenactment of events leading to Zayn’s death in his neighbourhood.

The team arrived at the apartment in Damansara Damai around 11am, accompanying a child who had allegedly seen Zayn on the evening of his disappearance on December 5. The child reenacted the boy’s movements.

The forensic team carried out the reenactment at Block R before taking the child witness to a staircase near some bushes.

The reenactment involving two juvenile witnesses – friends of the victim aged six and nine – was to determine if there was any new evidence from the staircase of Block R leading to the creek where Zayn’s body was found.

Zayn was reported missing on December 5 in Damansara Damai. His body was found in a creek 200m from his home the following day. – December 17, 2023.
