BUKIT Gasing assemblyman Rajiv Rishyakaran said the Selangor government should stop considering the Petaling Jaya Dispersal Link (PJD Link) project as it has already been rejected twice.

The DAP member said if the project has been scrapped, there is no point in looking into it again.

“My position is that they (Selangor) should stop deliberating on the project as too much time has been wasted on it.

“I believe the state government should move on and focus on more important issues,” he told The Malaysian Insight.

Yesterday, Petaling Jaya residents said the state government should reject any resubmission of proposals for the PJD Link.

They are still counting on Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari’s announcement on July 31 that the project was scrapped.

Speaking just before the state elections, Amirudin said the project was scrapped because the developer did not fulfil requirements laid out by the government a year ago such as complying with social and environmental impact assessments.

Later, he clarified that the project could be revived if the developer met the necessary requirements.

Rajiv said the MB had made it clear that the project would not proceed.

“The MB already said no. So, let’s move on. This project should be scrapped once and for all.

“How many times do they (authorities) want to keep revising the approvals for this project?”

Residents Against PJD Link chairman David Yoong said the group found out that the developer had submitted a revised SIA report.

“We checked with the Selangor Town and Country planning department, and they said that they are in the midst of getting external experts to evaluate the SIA report.

“We were told it is not a new SIA report but a revised version of it. What we want is for the project to be scrapped.”

Yoong said the project should be scrapped as it is far worse than the Kinrara Damansara Expressway project that was cancelled in 2015.

He also said an independent survey conducted from February to April and endorsed by 17 residents’ associations, joint management bodies, and civil society groups showed that 93% of those polled rejected the project.

The proposed PJD Link is to have a 25.4km dual carriageway starting after the NKVE toll plaza on the SPRINT Highway in Damansara. It ends at the Bukit Jalil highway interchange.

The project was planned to ease traffic congestion and support future growth in the Klang Valley. The PJD Link developer signed a concession agreement with the state government on April 5 last year. – November 27, 2023.
