BUKIT Gantang MP Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal said today he will support Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s government if his request for funding for his constituency is granted.
“If my request for the RM30 million funding to develop my constituency is approved, I will declare my support for the prime minister and the Madani government,” said Syed Abu Hussin, a lawmaker from Bersatu/Perikatan Nasional.
He said this in his debate at the committee level for the Rural and Regional Development Ministry in the Dewan Rakyat.
Previously, four other Bersatu MPs – Zahari Kechik (Jeli), Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang), Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan) and Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar) – had declared their support for the unity government.
The four declared their support on the basis of receiving allocations to prioritise the wellbeing of their constituents.
Syed Abu Hussin listed the developments needed in his constituency, saying the rural area was in need of allocations.
He said he was seeking RM5 million to transform the education facility there into a skills education centre.
He said this would allow for the teaching of men’s clothing sewing and automotive skills.
“There is no full-fledged academy, no Mara Skills Institute in Bukit Gantang,” he said.
“There are 35 kindergartens in Bukit Gantang, and I request an allocation of RM30,000 for each to carry out maintenance work, totalling RM1.05 million.”
He is also seeking RM90,000 to assist three groups of entrepreneurs in cultivating bananas and sweet corns, and developing oyster and snail farming.
He said funds are also needed for street lights, road development and mosque and restroom upgrade. – November 9, 2023.
