THE Human Resources Ministry has told MYAirline Sdn Bhd employees to contact the Labour Department about their outstanding salaries.

Workers at the airline were left in a lurch after the sudden suspension of the air carrier on October 12.

The ministry said 123 of the airline’s workers had already filed claims at the Labour Department for their wages.

The ministry urged the remaining staff to do the same.

“This process is necessary to enable further action to be taken in accordance with the provisions of the law,” it said in a statement today.

“The ministry will ensure that the welfare of the airline’s employees is always protected.”

Yesterday, the Malaysian Aviation Commission suspended the air service licence of MYAirline with immediate effect.

The regulatory agency said the decision was made following MYAirline’s failure to comply with its licensing conditions and its suspension of operations.

It said it had found the airline’s explanations unsatisfactory.

About 117,000 passengers holding RM22 million worth of tickets were affected by the carrier’s suspension. – November 2, 2023.
