THE initial report on the investigation into the August 17 aircraft crash near Bandar Elmina, Shah Alam, will be released tomorrow, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said.

He said the public will be able to view the report on the Transport Ministry’s website.

“All the facts (of the crash) will be in the report tomorrow,” he said after launching three new Kelana Jaya LRT line trains.

“We will upload the report on our website by 10am tomorrow.”

On August 29, Loke said data had been extracted from the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) of the aircraft that crashed onto the Guthrie Highway.

He said the Air Accident Investigation Bureau retrieved the data with the help of the CVR original equipment manufacturer, L3Harris, at its laboratory in Florida, the United States.

“All the data were downloaded, including the last 30 minutes of voice recordings before the crash,” he said.

Loke said the audio recordings were sent to the investigation team in Malaysia for analysis.

“The voice recordings of the two pilots will be analysed in the best way possible and all that transpired in the cockpit can become material for investigation to determine the cause of the tragedy,” he said.

On August 17, a private plane crashed in Bandar Elmina, killing 10 people – two crew members, six passengers, a motorcyclist and a motorist.

Among the dead was Pahang executive councillor Johari Harun. – September 14, 2023.
