PERIKATAN Nasional (PN) today urged voters to reject Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional (PH-BN) in the Simpang Jeram and Pulai by-elections as it alleged there were “hidden hands” behind the decisions to discharge Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and acquit Sabah Barisan Nasional leader Bung Moktar Radin and his wife of corruption.

PN election director Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said the decisions were sorrowful episodes of governance under the PH-BN rule.

“The by-elections will be an indicator whether Malaysians can accept the involvement of hidden hands in the discharge of the three from their corruption charges,” Sanusi said in a video posted on Facebook.

On Monday, High Court judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah granted Zahid a discharge not amounting to an acquittal in his corruption trial.

Yesterday, the High Court acquitted and discharged Kinabatangan lawmaker Bung and his wife Zizie Izette Abdul Samad from three graft charges amounting to RM2.8 million, following the granting of a revision application to drop all charges against them.

Sanusi said the by-elections in Johor tomorrow would be an indicator of whether the people condoned meddling in the country’s judicial system.

“Reject PH-BN in the by-elections and send a clear signal that the people will no longer tolerate the failure of the government.

“Even though the results will not affect changes in the ruling and state governments, at least it will send a clear message that the people can no longer tolerate the governance under PMX (Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim) and his accomplices in PH and BH. Let’s save Malaysia by voting for PN.

“We fight against the draconian rule of PMX. All his promises have been thrown into the drain, none of his promises made over the past 25 years have been fulfilled; things are getting even worse under his administration,” Sanusi added. – September 8, 2023.
