Voter fatigue apparent in state elections

AS anticipated, each state kept the status quo after the elections.  Pakatan Harapan held on to Penang, Selangor, and Negri Sembilan while Perikatan Nasional kept Kedah, Terengganu, and Kelantan.

Terengganu saw a voter turnout of 74.79%, Kedah (73.86%), Penang (72.67%), Selangor (72%), Negei Sembilan (68.35%) and Kelantan (60.96%).

There are many reasons for a low turnout. One of them is voter fatigue, defined as apathy and disinterest in an election.

People are tired of politicians who keep failing to fulfil their promises.

Elected representatives must honour their manifestos and be held accountable if they do not.

It is time for the unity government to work together with the opposition for a better Malaysia. – August 13, 2023.
