BERSATU is relying on public donations and sponsors to run its six state elections, said its president Muhyiddin Yassin today.
He said this is because authorities have frozen the party’s accounts.
“The accounts are all frozen. These (donors) are people who feel they want to help Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional (PN), so why should we question? I don’t question how much they spend,” said Muhyiddin, who is also PN chairman.
“We have been running elections all the time and yet Bersatu accounts are frozen,” he told reporters at the Gombak nomination centre this morning.
Authorities froze and seized Bersatu’s accounts as part of their investigations into Muhyiddin for corruption and abuse of power.
He is facing charges in court.
The former prime minister expressed confidence in PN winning the state polls, citing the people’s dissatisfaction with Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional.
“It’s a sign of rejection and the majority is not happy. This is very significant,” he said. – July 29, 2023.
