LAWYER-ACTIVIST Siti Kasim is headed to Kelantan on Monday for a case involving orang Asli, vowing to continue her rights activism despite an apparent attempt on her life.

In a livestream video, Siti said she was shaken by the discovery of a bomb under her car but would continue her work.

“I will still be going; nothing is going to stop me. I have to be there for my Orang Asli friends to support and help them,” she said in the video.

The families of seven Orang Asli children – who went missing from their boarding school in SK Pos Tohoi, Gua Musang on August 23, 2015 – are suing the government and eight public officials for negligence.

Four of the children died before they were found.

Siti will be the case’s first witness in the four-day hearing at the Kota Baru High Court.

Police yesterday confirmed that two bottles filled with wires discovered under her car were improvised explosive devices.

Brickfields district police chief Amihizam Abdul Shukor said the bomb squad managed to dispose of the equipment.

He said experts would analyse the contents of the bottles.

“We will conduct further checks to find out whether the device was active or not,” he said.

Amihizam said police had not recorded Siti Kasim’s statement.

“We have not recorded her statement but verbally, we discovered she did not have any enemies.

“However, we will investigate,” he said. – July 22, 2023.
