PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s health has stabilised, according to a Sinar Harian report.

The party’s vice-president, Amar Nik Abdullah, said Hadi has been moved to a normal ward from the cardiac care unit.

“His condition is getting better and he has been transferred to a normal ward.

“However, he is still under treatment and observation by the doctor,” he told the Malay-language daily today.

Amar said no visits were allowed in order to give Hadi time to recover.

“No one can visit, let him rest properly and we pray that he recovers quickly,” he said.

It was previously reported that several programmes involving Hadi had to be temporarily postponed due to his deteriorating health before Hari Raya Haji.

The last programme he attended was the officiation of the PAS Youth Assembly (DPP) election machinery, which was held at Dewan Tok Guru, Rusila in Marang last Wednesday.

Hadi already looked ill and frail then.

Hadi’s eldest son, Muhammad Khalil, posted on his Facebook page that his father was hospitalised on Thursday.

Previously, Hadi was admitted to Putrajaya Hospital due to shortness of breath in February before being transferred to the National Heart Institute for further treatment.

Muhammad Khalil, however, did not reveal where Hadi is currently receiving treatment in order to discourage public visits.

Meanwhile, member of parliament for Bachok, Mohd Syahir Che Sulaiman, said Hadi had recovered and was being monitored.

Mohd Syahir, who is also Hadi’s political secretary, posted updates on Hadi’s health on Instagram.

According to him, Hadi is now spending time writing, reading, and discussing current affairs. – July 2, 2023.
