UMNO Youth has urged DAP to apologise for all the accusations that had been hurled at the party when they were previously rivals.

Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh said DAP needs to do that to appease the Malays ahead of the state elections.

He said DAP also needs to prove that it does not have any racial agenda in the administration of the unity government.

He said DAP must show that it will not be anti-Malay, anti-Islamic, racist and communist-oriented.

He said DAP needs to apologise as when it did the same with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

“Honestly, why it (apology) can be done with GPS and not with us?

“I am telling DAP leaders that if they want Umno’s support, if they want to go through the state elections, then issue an apology immediately. This is our way.

“There are no more cover-ups as we have to be honest. This is the expression of the heart of the grassroots,” he said.

Akmal said this in his policy speech at World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur today.

Akmal, who is also Merlimau assemblyman, said DAP and Umno need to have respect and certain limits even though both are now in the unity government.

“We are with the government to share the administration,” he said.

“If there is someone who dares to cross the principles of this struggle, Umno Youth will be the first to cut that person down.”

He also vowed to maintain the Umno Youth identity and not be a follower of DAP.

“We are clear that Umno will never become DAP. We never asked DAP to become Umno and want to emphasise that Umno Youth will make sure that the party will never become a follower of DAP,” he said.

“It is obligatory. This is the voice of Malaysian youth. This is their oath and pledge.” – June 8, 2023.
