SACKED Umno leader Khairy Jamaluddin will be offered a seat in the Bersatu supreme council if he decides to join the party, Bersatu chairman Muhyiddin Yassin said.

He told reporters after an event in Petaling Jaya that this offer was made after a discussion with other party leaders. 

“(It is available) if he (Khairy) is willing. This is not bait, as some might suggest,” he said. 

“It’s just because we know he can contribute. I leave it to him to decide.” 

 Khairy was among those who were expelled or suspended from Umno for breaching party discipline after last year’s general election. 

 There is talk that Perikatan Nasional wants to bank on Khairy’s popularity to gain a stronger foothold in Selangor or Negri Sembilan in the state elections. 

Khairy moved from his Rembau federal seat to Sungai Buloh in the last general election but was defeated by PKR’s R. Ramanan. – May 17, 2023.
