SIX stations along the Ampang-Sri Petaling LRT line, which have been shut since April 2, will reopen tomorrow, Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd said.

It said the Bandaraya, Sultan Ismail, PWTC, Titiwangsa, Sentul and Sentul Timur stations will resume operations at 6am.

“This is following the completion of the temporary repair work (first phase) on the damaged viaduct structure and track near the Bandaraya LRT station.

“The trains that need to undergo maintenance have been brought to the LRT depot in Ampang and replacement trains will be used for this service,” Rapid Rail said in a statement today.

The six stations ceased operating on April 2 because the trains used to ply the route did not meet operational criteria and had to be removed from the service over safety concerns.

Structural and runway damage near the Bandaraya LRT station had blocked those trains from returning to the Ampang depot to undergo maintenance since January 27.

With the reopening of the six stations, Rapid Rail said it will terminate LRT shuttle buses 11, 13 and 14.

Rapid Rail said comprehensive repair work (second phase) of the runway structure is expected to be fully done by mid-October.

It said the Ampang-Sri Petaling line will resume normal operations thereafter.

“This projection is subject to evaluation and approval from the authorities involved,” it said.

To facilitate passenger travel amid service disruptions, Rapid Rail said it will reactivate the free express bus service (LRT bus 10) between the Masjid Jamek and Bandaraya stations.

“This bus service will operate with 10 buses at a 10-minute frequency,” it said.

It suggested passengers heading to the Hang Tuah station use the monorail or MRT as an alternative.

It encouraged passengers to use the Pulse app to plan their journeys and to follow Rapid KL’s social media pages for the latest updates. – May 11, 2023.
