THE Kelana Jaya Line light rail transit (LRT) service has returned to normal after repairs to a switch on the track were completed at 6.42pm today.

Operator Rapid Rail, in a statement, said the function of the track switch is to enable trains to change routes from one track to an adjacent track.

“The technical team was deployed as soon as the disruption occurred to carry out repairs,” it said.

“The operation has activated an alternative route plan using one platform.”

The first disruption, which occurred at 4.24pm today, forced the train to be driven manually between KL Sentral station and Pasar Seni station while a second malfunction occurred between Damai station and Dato’ Keramat station at 5.26pm.

Rapid Rail said a free bus shuttle service was provided as an alternative transport to transfer commuters affected at six stations, from KLCC station to Setiawangsa station.

Operations staff and auxiliary police were also deployed to the stations to facilitate the movement of commuters.

Rapid Rail also issued an apology to commuters inconvenienced by the disruptions. – Bernama, January 5, 2023.
