THE full investigation report on last month’s service disruptions at 16 stations on the Kelana Jaya LRT line will be released in two weeks.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said his office has received the preliminary report on the independent investigation carried out by WSP Engineering Sdn Bhd.

“The full report will be ready in two weeks and I have instructed that it be made public,” he said in a media conference at Prasarana headquarters.

Service at 16 stations between Kelana Jaya and Ampang Park was disrupted for seven days from November 9 as engineers worked to find the cause of instability in the line’s automatic train control system.

Prasarana chief executive officer Mohd Azharuddin Mat Sah said two original equipment manufacturer (OEM) experts from Canada and Dubai were recruited to help identify the cause of the problem.

“This is a serious problem that has never happened before. We are still investigating the actual cause of this disruption.

“Rapid Rail is assisted by a special team from the Canadian OEM based in Toronto and they will look for long- and short-term solutions, including testing the existing hardware and software.”

He said Prasarana decided to suspend the service between Kelana Jaya and Ampang Park for seven days after taking into consideration passengers’ safety while investigators worked to identify the problem. – December 8, 2022.
