THE authorities are considering installing iron piles near the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy (MACA), where a guardhouse collapsed yesterday, to stop further soil erosion, said Sentul police chief Beh Eng Lai.

He said authorities are using canvas tarpaulins to stabilise the soil in the vicinity.

“We discovered there is a risk of another collapse and soil erosion. Covering the area with canvas alone may not reduce the risk.

“We are thinking about using iron piling to safeguard neighbouring buildings, specifically Institut Integriti Malaysia and MACA,” he told reporters at the site today.

The MACC building in Persiaran Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin, Kuala Lumpur, was shut yesterday after a massive landslide destroyed a guard post near its entrance.

The Fire and Rescue Department in a statement said the affected area is an estimated 1,080sq m.

Seventy-six people were evacuated from the site.

No casualties were reported. – April 26, 2023.
