THE air quality across the country was healthy as at 11am today, the Department of Environment’s (DOE) air pollutant index (API) showed.

Of the 68 locations the DOE had testing equipment, 26 recorded “good” air quality – an API reading of between 0 and 50 – while the remaining 42 had “moderate” air quality (51-100).

Petaling Jaya, with an API reading of 77, has the “worst” reading while most of Sarawak – Kapit, Sibu, Sarikei, Sri Aman, Samarahan and Kuching – were at the opposite end of the scale, with a good-quality reading of between 25 and 43.

An overnight rain and thunderstorm over Kuching and Samarahan helped in keeping the air quality good. – April 24, 2023.
