MACC releases Sivakumar’s officers

THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has released two officers from the Human Resources Ministry who were remanded to assist investigations into the recruitment of foreign workers. 

Quoting a source from MACC, The Star reported that the duo’s remand order ended today. 

Also released is the third suspect – a businessman. 

On April 12, it was reported that a senior officer and the businessman, aged between 40 and 50, were arrested as they arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport from Bangkok, Thailand. 

The senior officer was said to be a former leader in the DAP Socialist Youth (Dapsy) wing. 

The two were remanded for six days. 

On April 17, another senior officer, believed to be holding the post of private secretary, was arrested after being called up to record her statement.

She was remanded for four days. 

Yesterday, Human Resources Minister V. Sivakumar said he has suspended his private secretary along with two special function officers following their arrest. 

On the same day, Sivakumar was summoned by MACC to assist in investigations. – April 17, 2023.
