KUALA Lumpur nightclub Privacy Tun Razak has apologised for its plan to feature Thai men in lingerie at its grand opening next week.

The club’s management said in a statement that it has now cancelled the plan.

The apology came several hours after police visited the club on Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur, this afternoon and issued its management a stern warning.

“In response to the issue that went viral on social media over the official opening of Privacy Tun Razak, we apologise and would like to say that the programme, which was supposed to feature ‘Thai Hot Guy’ on March 30, has been cancelled.

“Privacy Tun Razak respects religious sensitivities in this country and will not go against any laws,” the management said.

“All media releases on the programme were made without our approval and we apologise for the mistake.

“Once again, we apologise for any difficulties and – on the grounds of respecting religious and racial sensitivities – the programme has been cancelled,” it added.

Earlier today, Wangsa Maju police chief Ashari Abu Samah said officers met with the club representatives this afternoon, issuing them with a warning and told them to call off the show.

“The organiser and club management have agreed to comply with the order to cancel it, and no such programme or activity will be conducted.

“Police will continuously monitor the premises and we will take action should there be any violation of the law,” he said in a statement today.

He also said that police have received 60 reports lodged against the programme as of 4pm today.

Both Umno and Bersatu’s youth wings confirmed that they had lodged police reports, urging authorities to investigate the club’s management. – March 22, 2023.
