Hamzah pans Anwar for saying poor could be hired for protests

Opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin (pic) says Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's suggestion that poor people may be hired by desperate parties to stage demonstrations will only anger lower-income groups. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, March 19, 2023.

PRIME Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s suggestion that the poor can be brought to stage demonstrations is “nonsensical” and will only anger the youth, said Hamzah Zainudin.

The opposition leader said Anwar’s comment is insulting to Malaysia’s poor.

“Why did he have to bring up the issue of poor people being hired (to stage demonstrations)? This is a major problem in our country; when leaders fabricate stories.

“He (Anwar) believes that these poor people can be hired to do anything, including demonstrations,” said the Perikatan Nasional secretary-general in a video posted on his social media.

He said Anwar’s way of thinking is not acceptable.

Anwar told the media he had ordered the entire security force to be on alert because people who feel challenged or “desperate” may hire poor people to cause a ruckus.

Hamzah said Anwar should find ways to solve the problems faced by the poor.

“Find a way to solve the problem, instead of making false accusations. This can make young people even angrier.

“Accusing poor people of being hired to stage street demonstrations can further agitate them.

“They are currently struggling to make ends meet. Prime minister, do not make nonsensical remarks,” he said. – March 19, 2023.

  • Isn't it true hypocrite Hamzah that the poor are more susceptible to being manipulated by unscrupulous politicians who then proceed to "employed" them to stage demonstrations? That does not mean the poor will not demonstrate for the right reasons: for example in Bersih, many poor people were involved at their own expense. Is this Hamzah upset that PMX has preempted their sinister plots?

  • Ya you cowards pay the poor, make them swear on the holy book, and make them do despicable acts against the peace and harmony of the nation. Scumbags the lot of you!!

  • During the Covid lockdown, money that should have gone to the poor was 'diverted' into the pockets of those currently out of power.
These rascals will do anything to prevent justice taking its course, and that includes wrecking the country by whatever means if it serves to save their own necks.
