THE new Umno vice-presidency line-up will see Pahang Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail joining incumbent Mohamed Khaled Nordin and newbie Johari Abdul Ghani, unofficial results showed.

As of 11am today, of the eight candidates who contested, Wan Rosdy managed to get 117 votes while Khaled got the second-highest votes with 107. Johari obtained 96.

Incumbent Mahdzir Khalid failed to retain his position with only 34 votes. Another incumbent, Ismail Sabri Yaakob, did not contest.

The only female candidate, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Azalina Othman Said, was in fourth position with 64 votes, followed by Reezal Merican Naina Merican with 45, while Hasni Mohammad secured 41.

Unofficial results also showed that among those who booked one of the 25 Umno Supreme Council positions included International Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz and Foreign Minister Zambry Abd Kadir.

Also present were Deputy Finance Minister Ahmad Maslan, Deputy Home Minister Shamsul Anuar Nasarah and Deputy Works Minister Abdul Rahman Mohamad. – March 19, 2023.
