SHAHRIZAT Abdul Jalil has entered the race for Wanita Umno’s top post.

The former Lembah Pantai lawmaker, who helmed the wing between 2008 and 2018, submitted her nomination form earlier today at the Umno headquarters today.

Shahrizat told New Straits Times that she is in the race to strengthen Wanita Umno and spread its wings.

“We have to be inclusive and we have to be there as mothers of the nation for each and every one of the rakyat, as we had for many years,” she was quoted as saying in the report.

“Wanita needs to be a game changer again. We must win the hearts and minds of the nation again.”

The former women, family and community development minister said she was prompted to contest following calls from her supporters to return.

It was reported earlier that 147 Wanita Umno division chiefs had called for Shahrizat to lead the women’s wing again. – February 17, 2023.
