A THIEF broke into a headmaster’s car yesterday and escaped with RM109,000, which the headmaster had apparently left on the front passenger seat while he had gone to get a drink from a nearby shop.

“The victim had withdrawn the money from a bank in Kampung Baru Semenyih at about 10am and placed the cash inside a bag. The bag was kept on the front passenger seat,” Kajang police chief Mohd Zaid Hassan said in a statement last night.

The money was reportedly financial aid for the headmaster’s school in Semenyih, which he left on the seat while he went to a shop to buy a drink nearby.

Zaid said police received a report about the incident at 12.17pm from the 50-year-old headmaster, adding that when the victim returned to his car, he saw the windscreen on the rear passenger side was broken and the bag containing the cash was stolen.

Zaid urged anyone with information to contact the nearest police station. – Bernama, January 17, 2023.
