TWO people have been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) as part of its investigation into the sale of the Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd concession, The Star reports.
It is understood that senior officials, ages 48 and 58 respectively, from two separate companies were detained by MACC officers in Putrajaya this afternoon.
According to sources, one of the suspects is the managing director of the company that took over the concession.
“The other suspect is believed to have acted as the middleman in the takeover process,” a source told The Star.
Reportedly, the sale involved bribes of hundreds of thousands of ringgit and luxury watches.
The MACC said the two suspects will appear at Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court tomorrow for their remand hearing.
MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki confirmed the arrests. – January 6, 2023.
