PERIKATAN Nasional (PN) today announced that the coalition is open to joining the formation of a unity government, days after rejecting the offer from the palace.

In a statement, PN secretary-general Hamzah Zainuddin said the coalition had agreed to join the formation for the sake of the wellbeing of the people.

“The PN supreme council in a meeting today had discussed the possibility to join the formation of a unity government as well as to hold talks with political parties on the matter,” Hamzah said.

“The supreme council has agreed that the PN be part of the unity government for the sake of the country’s stability.”

On Tuesday, PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin said the coalition would not work with PH to form a unity government.

He said the Yang di-Pertuan Agong had called for PN to work with PH but he rejected the offer.

In the general election, PH won 76 seats, while its coalition member Sarawak DAP garnered five seats and Muda one, for a total of 82.

PN and PAS won 51 and 22 seats respectively, for a combined total of 72.

BN could only muster 30 seats, with many of the coalition’s leaders becoming casualties.

Gabungan Parti Sarawak claimed 23 seats, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (6), Warisan (3), Parti Bangsa Malaysia (1) and independents (2). – November 24, 2022.

  • Yes! Give Hadi the DPM post, since PAS is the party with the most number of seats. Give them Minister of Finance and Health as well.

  • How? Since PN rejected this outright and refused to work with PH.
